Monterosso al Mare is the westernmost village of the Cinque Terre and can be reached by the ‘Sentiero Azzurro’ footpath.
The village is sheltered by hills covered with vineyards and olive groves and is set amongst lush vegetation.
The exquisite beaches, steep rugged cliffs and crystalline waters, make this one of the most charming resorts of the eastern Ligurian Riviera.
The medieval tower ‘Aurora’, situated in the Cappuccini hills separates the old historic town from the more modern quarter whilst fine works of art such as the Crucifixion (attributed to Van Dyck) are preserved in the Church of St. Francis.
The village’s delightful hotels are popular for their warm and friendly atmosphere while the variety of restaurants offer a chance to sample local Ligurian specialties served with Sciacchetrà, the famous Cinque Terre wine.
